Susan was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA and moved to California for 8 years for undergraduate and graduate school. She ultimately decided to move back to her hometown for veterinary school and loves the football culture too much to move away!
Susan’s love for animals is apparent in her 12 years of collegiate coursework. Initially, Susan planned to impact animals by studying their genomes to discover disease-causing variants, but she couldn’t imagine her life without a daily dose of animals and decided to leave the lab with a Master’s degree in Integrative Genetics and Genomics upon acceptance to LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Susan’s dream job has always been to work at an annual wellness clinic for small animals, allowing her to make a positive impact on the pet-loving community in Baton Rouge. At LSU, Susan met her husband, Jared, and both decided that staying in Louisiana and raising a family while working their dream careers was their goal.
Susan and Jared have 5 dogs, a cat, a box turtle and a bearded dragon, all rescued! In their free time, Susan and her husband enjoy traveling and hosting events for friends and family. Their dog, Zulu, has been to 37 states! They are expecting their first child this Christmas and can’t wait to introduce her to their furry and reptilian kids!
