Featured Vet: Dr. Stephanie King Shares Her Passion For Pets & People, and Advice For Flea Prevention

Dr. Stephanie King has worked with all sorts of animals — horses, cows, goats, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, rhinos, sea turtles, manatees, and even sharks. For as long as she can remember she has loved animals, and while in veterinary school realized that she had an equal passion for helping people take care of their pets. She has been with PetWellClinic® since February 2017.

“Being in small animal general practice really lets me connect to people and their pets,” Dr. King says. She primarily works at the West Hills PetWellClinic®  but can sometimes be found at the Farragut location as well. King is particularly proud of the prices and packages that PetWellClinic is able to offer, as well as the convenience of being a walk-in clinic.

“I love being able to help people with what their pets need and not get a sticker-shock response when I tell them the price,” she says. “I also like that our online portal is accessible for owners to get their pet’s records or to get in line before coming in. That’s especially helpful if they have a dog or cat that doesn’t do well waiting in a lobby.”

Dr. King adds that PetWellClinic® is a great place to build a pet’s confidence with being in a vet office. “We are easily accessible if you are out and about in Knoxville, and you can just stop in for vaccinations, prevention products, a check-up exam, or to take care of minor conditions and concerns.”

If there’s one thing Dr. King would like pet owners in East Tennessee to know, it’s that over-the-counter flea prevention products don’t always work. “I have seen some problems with long-standing flea products recently, and it makes me sad when I see clients who are worried about expenses buy several flea products over the counter that don’t work. They come in exhausted from giving flea baths, spraying the house or getting pest control to come out, when the real problem is that the OTC flea prevention products are not working on their pets. Sometimes they have spent so much more money on products that don’t work than on getting an affordable and effective product from us.”

Dr. King notes that PetWellClinic® is a great resource for flea and heartworm prevention products. “Especially for those pet owners who are concerned about chemicals, the products we carry are much safer and effective than bathing your pet in pyrethrins over and over again to no avail! We also don’t charge an exam fee for many of these products if the pet is in good general health. Plus, our products are guaranteed by the manufacturers.”

By operating convenient hours for non-surgical care, PetWellClinic® is able to offer substantially discounted prices for all flea and tick preventative products, vaccinations, wellness exams, and treatment of minor conditions. We operate as a “minute clinic” for your pet—no appointment necessary, with convenient hours and quick in-and-out service. You can save even more time by pre-registering and pre-paying online for our walk-in clinics.

PetWellClinic® has three locations: 10549 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922; 7329 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919; and 228 S. Calderwood Street, Alcoa, TN 37701.
