Meet Our New Vet!

unnamed-1We are pleased to announce that Andrew Bodenstein, DVM, has joined the veterinary staff of PetWellClinic, and will be rotating among the three locations to get to know our family of clients and their pets.

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Dr. Bodenstein grew up with horses and giant-breed dogs, including a 160 pound Leonberger. After graduating from Washington State University with a major in zoology and a minor in neuroscience, Andrew attended veterinary school at Saint George’s University and recently completed his final year of clinical year study at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Bodenstein says, “I love the service that PetWellClinic® offers to the community. Having accessible hours on a walk-in basis and affordable pricing gives me great fulfillment in helping pets and their owners in our region. Plus, the PetWellClinic® group of doctors are great and foster a wonderful work environment.”

A real dog person at heart, Dr. Bodenstein is no stranger to cats either as he currently lives with two—Bruce and Ollie. While he’s not helping pet owners in East Tennessee keep their companions healthy and happy, Dr. Bodenstein enjoys SCUBA, motorcycles, auto-mechanics, wood-working, and computers.

If there’s one piece of advice he’d like to give pet owners in East Tennessee, it’s to maintain heartworm prevention year-round. He says, “It only takes one missed month to get infected. It’s not worth the risk to stop during the winter to try to save money. Ultimately, less than $10 a month can save you from a condition that can cost thousands to treat or worse, could be fatal to your pet.”

Dr. Bodenstein reminds clients that PetWellClinic® carries a variety of products to prevent heartworms, as well as ticks and fleas, at discounted prices. “All of the products that we sell work well and it’s completely up to the pet owner whether they want to go with a topical or chewable product, or one that’s given monthly or every three months, etc. The most important thing for pet owners to know is that we carry options to choose from, and we’re always happy to help them determine which product best suits their needs and lifestyle.”

By operating as a walk-in-clinic for non-surgical care, PetWellClinic® is able to offer substantially discounted prices for safe heartworm, flea, and tick preventative products, as well as vaccinations, wellness exams, treatment of minor conditions, or medications for chronic conditions.

PetWellClinic® is open during convenient evening and weekend hours, with no appointment necessary, at three locations: In Farragut at 10549 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922; near West Hills at 7329 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919; and in Alcoa at 228 S. Calderwood Street, Alcoa, TN 37701.
